Valetta Marie Cline Templeman, born January 8, 1920 to Noble and Grace Cline in Fredonia, Kansas died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the age of 96. Valetta married Richard Earl Templeman on February 20, 1938 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They lived their entire married life of 65 years in Oklahoma.
Valetta was a beautiful, gracious lady – wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had lovely, nimble hands and left many wonderful things to remember her by – intricately painted China, numerous knitted and crocheted blankets, and gorgeous quilts. She also loved playing cards and games with her grandchildren.
She was an extraordinary giver of her time to others, belonging to many organizations – past President/Life Member of LeMedi Book Club and Redbud Women's Club; and longtime member of the First Christian Church of Oklahoma City, Hospitality Club, Criterion Book Club, and Salvation Army. Hobbies she shared with her husband, Earl included golf (which she did at the OGCC until age 91), and fishing and boating on Lake Eufaula.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Vaughn Cline, sister, Jewell Sharp, and two sons-in-law Larry Queen and LTC (Ret.) David R. Hazels. Survivors include two daughters, Gayle Keeton and husband Don of Edmond, OK and Jeanie Hazels of Leavenworth, KS; nine grandchildren, Richard and Phara Queen of Oklahoma City, OK; Scott and Lynnel Queen of Auburn, CA; David and Beth Hazels of Parkville, MO; Susan and Todd Mitmesser of Hillsdale, MI; Ann Hazels and Sven Davis of Santa Cruz, CA; Dana and Dan Seith of Atlanta, GA; Sylvia and Rick Thackray of Canton, GA; Kara Griffin of Fort Worth, TX; Krista and Tommy Fabregas of Cypress, TX; 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Services will be held at the First Christian Church (3700 North Walker) with Jeff Hamilton officiating on Wednesday, February 10 at 11 a.m. with the family receiving visitors at Smith & Kernke (14624 North May Avenue) on Tuesday, February 9 from 5-7 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital North or the First Christian Church of Oklahoma City. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital North and Crossroads Hospice.
