Verne William Hickman

Verne William Hickman, 41, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on January 30, 2022. Verne (VW) was born on October 29,1980. He was named after his paternal grandfathers, Verne Goldsberry and William Hickman, Jr. He, his brothers and friends of the neighborhood, spent many hours playing sports and swimming. Verne was a good basketball and baseball player. He loved playing the guitar and was pretty much self-taught.He attended St. Eugene's Catholic Church and school through 8th grade. During his freshman summer, the family moved to Tulsa for work opportunities. In Tulsa, he attended and graduated from Bishop Kelley High School. He attended OSU in Stillwater and loved all things OSU. His greatest joy were the three children of the home that he became daddy to; loving them, raising them, playing with them and nurturing them. They will greatly miss the only father they have ever known. Verne had an infectious grin and was always meeting people and making friends. He had a great hug and never missed saying "I love you". His family and friends meant the world to him.He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Verne Goldsberry, a cousin Eric, his grandparents William and Georgia Hickman, and uncles Al Tison, Bob Gobel and Roger Scribner. He is survived by his parents David and Cathy Hickman, his three children Trystan, Lyam and Amiryal, his brothers and their families, Nicholas(Laurin) Nicholas, Elli and Brewer, Phillip(Melissa) Connor and Ava Rose, Alexander(Erica) Cooper, Camryn, Addison and Avery and David Gray(Starla) Dawson, Phoebe and Noah, his grandmother Joyce Goldsberry, his aunts and uncles Janet and Bud Perschek, Nancy Goebel and Paul McDermott, Beth Scribner, Lisa and Jon Wright, Mickey and Scott Shannahan, Pamela Tison, Bill Hickman and many cousins and friends who loved him dearly.His memorial service will be at St. Eugene's Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, OK on Friday, February 11 at 10:30 AM. Everyone is invited to a gathering at the church immediately after the service to share a meal and stories of our son, VW.
