Vernon Ross Brown, Junior (Ross), 92, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 17th, 2022, in his home after a short battle with cancer.Ross was born on June 27th, 1930, to Vernon and Florence Brown in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating high school, he attended Texas Tech University where he studied animal husbandry, began a lifelong dedication to his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, serving as president of his chapter and played college football.After college, Ross joined the US Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service, he attended Harvard Business School and graduated with an MBA that would be the framework for the rest of his life. His love of negotiation and interest in other people led him to work as a landman in the oil and gas industry. During his nearly 70 years association with the oil and gas field, Ross shared his knowledge and experiences in the industry as a visiting professor at many Oklahoma universities and helped develop a mentorship program for up-and-coming landman. The relationships he formed with his students were one of the most important aspects of his life. Ross was an avid athlete. Along with playing college football, he skied all over the United States, Canada, and much of Europe, was a dedicated practitioner of yoga, and a cycling devotee and often he could be found riding his bike through Edmond. He played squash all over the world, building lasting friendships and making wonderful memories. Ross is survived by his son, Vernon Ross Brown, III (Tray), his daughter-in-law, Eva Brown Hajdukova, grandson, Julian (9); his daughter, Jennifer Philippa Hankins-Brown (Pippa), his son-in-law, Tony Joseph Lenzo, and grandchildren, Izabelle (5), Tony, Jr. (2), Philip Ross (6 months).Services will be held at All Souls' Episcopal Church at 6400 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116 on November 26th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the church.
