Vicki Jane Thompson

Vicki Jane Thompson August 17, 1945 – July 27, 2014 Born to "Buck" and Mildred Thompson on August 17, 1945, Vicki Jane Thompson passed away peacefully from this life on July 27, 2014. Though her parents and grandparents Lewis and Bertha Story, her uncle C.A. Smith, aunt Lois Smith Flaming, and cousin Andrew Smith passed before her, she leaves behind her partner of 35 years Linda Nickell, her cousin Don Smith and his wife Kathy, her cousins Wayne and Cherri Atkins, and their daughters Meagan and Ashley Atkins, as well as her step-uncle Archie Flaming. She also leaves many loving friends and a menagerie of adoring pets. Vicki was born in Sentinel, OK and graduated from Ardmore High School in 1963. She earned a degree in elementary education from East Central University in Ada, OK in 1967 and began her 34 year career in education with Moore Public Schools. After a short time there, she moved home to Ardmore and taught until the spring of 1979. With the start of the next school year, Vicki began teaching for the Oklahoma City Public School District at Putnam Heights where she taught until her retirement in 2001. Vicki will be sincerely missed and warmly remembered by her friends, her family, her professional colleagues, and the scores of students whose lives she touched.
