She is survived by a brother, Robert "Bud" Tate; her son, Orville Jr. and wife Bunny; son, James and wife Jeanie; daughter, Betty Beaty and husband Gary; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. Violet was active in Platonic and Sorosis clubs, the Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing for family members which won many County Fair Ribbons.
She attended school in Pleasant Plains, Texas from 1st through 4th grades, Borger, Texas, in 5th and 6th grades; and Stinnett, Texas, in the 7th grade. She went directly into the 9th grade in Carter, Oklahoma, then graduated high school in Ocena, Oklahoma. Violet enjoyed playing basketball while in high school. She had a little problem with home economics because she refused to wash windows and was nearly kicked out of school; the family always thought we had some fancy brown tint on our home windows! Violet never knew where the gas cap was on any car she drove.
Violet enjoyed family get togethers at the lake, cooking, furniture upholstery, wallpapering, oil painting and operating her knitting machine.
Her favorite flowers were day lilies and roses.
