Virginia Naifeh

Virginia Janet Massad Naifeh left us on October 6, 2014 after a short illness. Born in Drumright, OK, September 9, 1922, she was the youngest of seven children, born to parents M.K. and Melia Massad, who emigrated from Lebanon. At the age twelve, Virginia converted to Catholicism and devoted her life to the church. In 1935, Virginia moved with her family to Oklahoma City, where she became a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parrish. She graduated from Classen High School in 1940 and went to work at W.R. Johnson & Company. In 1950, she married Edward (Eddie) Joseph Naifeh and moved to Woodward. They lived there until they moved their family in 1957 to Oklahoma City. Virginia and her family became active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and school for twenty years. In 1976 she joined the parish of Christ the King Parish and remained a dedicated member until her death. Church activities were the joy of her life including the rosary making committee, parish activities board, share and care and St. Vincent DePaul society and was a lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. She was a faithful member of the Bonne Heure Club and loved her Bonne Heure sisters. She also enjoyed her other volunteer activities with the Salvation Army, Christmas Connection, Oklahoma City Symphony, Lyric Theatre, The Greens Country Club, Lady Niners and book club and the St. Jude Guild. Virginia enjoyed a beautiful life with her husband Eddie of 46 years. Her home was always a gathering place for family and friends and she was the ultimate hostess. She loved to travel and visited many countries but especially loved the Holy Land where she received the "Silver Shell" from the Patriarch of Jerusalem upon completing her pilgrimage led by Archbishop Beltran. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eddie, and two infant daughters, her sisters, Emily Aboussie, Penny Massad, Wadad Raizk, Negla Farha Heilman and brother George K. Massad. She is survived by her sister Marie Aboussie and sister-in-law Linda Massad, her sons, Frank and wife Saundra and George and wife Stacy, her grandchildren, Danielle and Chad Cronic, Blake and Stephanie Naifeh and Barrett Naifeh, great-grand children, Elyse, Avary, Stella, Cy and Brynn and many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. The family would like to thank the caregivers, Kelley, Mary, Sherry, Blanca and Ross Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, St. Jude Children's Hospital or The Discalced Carmelite Nuns in Piedmont, OK. Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church.
