Walter Larry Shaver was born in Vivian, LA, to Jack Marvin and Margaret Bedingfield Shaver. Larry graduated high school in 1957 in Eagle Lake, TX. He attended Texas A&M, Wharton Jr. College, and then completed his college career at Sam Houston State, graduating in 1961 with a BA in Business. After graduation, he began working for Tenneco Oil Company. He worked at the plant in LaPorte, TX, for 5 years before transferring to Denver, CO. It was at Tenneco in Denver, where he met the love of his life, Sandi. Larry and Sandi were married in Denver, CO, in January 1974, and set up their home in Oklahoma City, where they remained throughout their 45 years together. They were blessed with the birth of their son, Jack Garrett, in June 1980. Larry left Tenneco Oil Company, as Administrative Manager in 1989 and began working for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission until his retirement as a General Administrator. Larry spent his retirement years working on his passion - Indian artifacts. He found his first arrowhead when he was a Boy Scout, starting a passion that lived in his heart all his life. This passion resulted in an impressive collection of artifacts, pottery and art. Larry was listed in the Who's Who in Indian Relics, Volume 11. The pride and joy of his life was his son, Jack Garrett, daughter-in-law Jackie, and his two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cecille (9) and Keegan Walter (6). He is survived by his wife, Sandi, his son Jack Garrett (Jackie), Kaitlyn and Keegan.
