Wanda Georgia Bettis of Oklahoma City, OK, affectionately known as Nanaw, passed away of natural causes Monday, December 22nd at her daughter's home in Oklahoma City. She was 83 years old. Nanaw was born in Hannah, OK in 1926 to George and Stella Megee. She was the youngest of eight siblings. After moving to Oklahoma City, she was married in 1944 to Morris E. Bettis, with whom she had three daughters, Cathy, Linda, and Diana. Following the death of Morris in 1964, Nanaw raised her three daughters. In 1957, she began work for Ford Motor Company, first in Oklahoma City, and later in Dallas. She worked there for 30 years before retiring in 1987. During her years in Dallas, her home became a frequent destination for her daughters, grandchildren, and their families. A chorus of, "almost to Nanaw's," arrive-time homemade spaghetti dinners, shopping trips to vibrant Dallas shopping malls, and hot Dallas days by the pool will bless our memories forever. While she was not accommodating family visits from out of town, she developed affection for the Dallas Cowboys which persisted even after her return to Oklahoma City in 2006. Nanaw will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and generosity as well as the deep love she displayed for her children, grandchildren, and most recently her great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
