Wayne F. Coffman 97, went home to be with his Lord on October 2, 2011. He was born on March 25, 1914 to Guy and Grace Coffman in Morrison, Oklahoma. He graduated from Morrison High School in 1931 and attended Oklahoma A&M, graduating with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He worked as a Chemist for Cities Service Gas Company from 1935-37, and an Engineer in the Gas measurement Department from 1938 until he retired in 1979. He married Dorrel I. Swearingen on September 27, 1936. They met in high school and spent 69 wonderful years together before she passed away in 2006. He was a long time member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City for 54 years. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. Wayne was very generous with his thoughts and prayers. Besides his wife he is preceded in death by his parents and brother Gleason. He is survived by his daughter Kay Emery and her husband Dennis of Edmond, Oklahoma, and grandchildren,
Brent Emery, wife Trudy and great-grandchildren Clara and Jackson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bob Emery, wife Cindy and great-grandchildren Travis and Caylie of Edmond, Julie Yowell, husband Jay and great-grandchildren Jordan and Jorja of Edmond. Other beloved survivors include his sister-in-law Dean Gilbert and sister-in-law Betty Swearingen, along with many special nieces and nephews and a long list of special nurses and friends. Visitation hours are from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 4th at Smith & Kernke Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on October 8 at The First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, 1201 N. Robinson with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery 13313 N. Kelley Ave. Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City or Epworth Villa, Oklahoma City.
