Wendell Logan Boaz

Wendell L. Boaz, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died Sunday, April 11, 2010, following a courageous battle with emphysema and lung cancer. Born in Oklahoma City August 6, 1925, to Walter and Mary Boaz, Wendell graduated from Classen High School. He is a WWII veteran. Following the war, he and his father established the family business, Boaz Candy and Tobacco Company, in 1947. In 1969 he helped Greg Robertson establish Audio Associates and served as the financial manager for that business for many years. Wendell was very active in the Presbyterian Church at the local, regional and national levels. Early on he was a leader in stewardship efforts. He served as "The Sound Man" at Central Presbyterian Church for 43 years, providing sound systems and recording worship services, special music programs, weddings, memorial services and youth group productions. He has been a key contributor to Central's History Center, which was established in 1998. In 2009 he was named Elder Emeritus. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Icelone (Sally Mae); his son and daughter-in-law Dale and Kathy Boaz; his daughter, Vikki Boaz Dearing and her friend, Deb Bunting; and two grandchildren, Jeremiah and Justine Boaz. The family wishes to express gratitude for their loving support and care to Dr. Katherine Little and the caregivers on the sixth floor of Deaconess Hospital.
