W.F. Williams

W. F. "Stormy" Williams departed this life on January 28, 2012 , losing the only thing he had left to lose. Stormy was born on January 22, 1922, in Tuttle, Oklahoma, to Athel and Ethel Williams, and was proud to be a Tuttle Tiger. He is survived by his precious daughter in law, Debbie, and by his sons Steve, Scott and Jeff. Stormy was predeceased by his beloved wife Pat. Stormy liked to say they shared over 50 years of marital bliss, but Pat's version differed slightly. Stormy was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, an avid fan of the Sooners and the New York Yankees, and was a member of the Choctaw Tribe. Stormy retired from Ford Motor Credit as an automobile claims adjuster, and was the worlds' foremost expert on finishing his work early so he could head to the golf course. Stormy twice won the Oklahoma City Amateur Championship, twice won the Oklahoma State Senior Amateur Championship, and teamed with his partners to win Championship Flight in the Oklahoma City Fourball on three occasions, the last time in 1980, at the age of 58. On August 24, 1959, he became the only player to shoot 62 at his favorite golf course, Meridian Golf Club in OKC. He made six hole in ones in his career. He. won countless additional events throughout the state of Oklahoma, and was impolitely urged not to return to at least one golf course in western Oklahoma because of his fleecing of the locals. He was truly a character unlike any other, and as many people said, "you haven't played golf until you have played golf with Stormy." Stormy was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2007, and it was the only fight of his life he could not win. The family would like to thank the staff at The Manchester House for their treatment of Stormy these past years, and would also like to thank the girls at the Lincoln Park Golf Course grill and Anne Steninger for their many kind gestures towards Stormy. Funeral services will be held at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home at 14624 N. May Avenue on Saturday, February 4, at 11AM . Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
