William (Bill) Joseph Miller, age 87, passed away on April 5, 2016, in his Oklahoma City home. He was born in 1928 in Harrah, OK, and as a child moved with his family to Oklahoma City where he and his sister helped their father start a new business Blue Ribbon Automotive Supply company. They eventually expanded the family business to an automotive parts distributing company with retail stores throughout the state. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and where he met many life-long friends through Catholic sports and activities. Bill was the first Boy Scout in Oklahoma to achieve the Ad Altare Dei (to the altar of God), designed to help scouts develop in their faith within the Catholic community. He also had a passion for fishing that he enthusiastically shared with family and friends, and which lead him to many enjoyable trips to the Gulf and weekends at the lake which he loved. Bill was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church and supporter of McGuinness High School. He dearly loved his family and his Catholic faith. Bill was preceded in death by brother-in-law R.E. Johnston, step-son Steve Hughes and niece Jeanette Perkins. Bill is survived by his wife Shirley, sister, Virginia Johnston, children Glenn, Dianne, and James; step children Diane, Cyndi, Kathy, Valerie, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family extends sincere appreciation to Dr. Aleda Toma and entire staff for their attentiveness and kindness during this past year of treatment. An evening prayer service will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at Smith and Kernke Chapel at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, April 12, 2106 at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
