In loving memory of Bob Butcher, age 75. A man of great Catholic faith, love and perseverance. Bob was born to Eloise and William R. Butcher, Sr., at St. Anthony's Hospital, Oklahoma City as the first of three children. Bob attended Rosary Grade School, St. Francis of Assisi Parish and graduated from Bishop McGuinness HS in Yr. 1960. He attended Regis College in Denver, Colorado and graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in Edmond, OK.
Bob began his career in the meat processing business at the family-owned Butcher Meat Packing Company that was founded prior to statehood by his Grandfather, the late W.H. Butcher. The business
was sold in Yr. 1970. Bob then went on to become a supplier of metal goods and services for Metal Supermarkets for over 17 years in Oklahoma City. Bob was very proud of his many business accomplishments and clients that he served both in the meat and metal industries over a 50 year period.
Bob was also a proud member of the Downtown Rotary, Men's Dinner Club, Wednesday morning Business Booster's and he also served on the Board of the Goodwill Industries. Additionally, he served on several boards at both St. John the Baptist and St. Monica Catholic Churches. Bob enjoyed many Saturday's watching his Oklahoma Sooners play football and he attended 50 consecutive Red River Rivalry games in Dallas with family and friends. Sunday's were devoted to morning Mass and then a round of golf with friends in the afternoon.
His beloved and faithful wife, Jane Margaret "Peggy" Butcher together celebrated over 47 years of marriage. Bob is also survived by his two brothers James F. Butcher and Thomas D. Butcher and wife Susan E. Butcher of Oklahoma City; his children, Leslie D. Butcher of Oklahoma City and Scott R. Butcher and his wife Kerri of Austin, TX; three grandchildren Arah Edmond of Oklahoma City and Blake D. and Reid R. Butcher of Austin, TX; one great grandson Kadyn DuBose; and a niece and nephew, Brooke and Brent Butcher.
Bob will be remembered at a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 13th at St. Monica's Catholic Church at 2001 N. Western Ave., Edmond, OK 73012
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 12th at 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM with family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home.
