William Christopher Cook

William Christopher Cook, born in Norman, Oklahoma on March 26th, 1969, passed away on August 30th, 2023. William is survived by his beloved daughter, Madelyn Ann Cook; parents, David T. and Toni (Cooksey) Cook; brother John Cook; brother Andrew Cook and wife Michelle Cook; niece Harper Cook; and nephew Colton Cook.

William was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, David M. Cook and Mary Jean (Carver) Cook and maternal grandparents, Howell R. Cooksey and Bobbye (Lancaster) Cooksey.

William graduated in 1987 as a “lifer” at Casady School, where he participated in soccer, became fluent in Spanish, and made lifelong friendships. He attended the University of Oklahoma and University of Central Oklahoma (B.S. 1994), as well as Oklahoma City University School of Law (J.D. 1998). He established a private practice, specializing in family law, tax, and estate planning.  William also served as a Special Judge for Oklahoma City Municipal Court from 2012-2014.

A single father, William always saw his first priority and most important job as being “Maddy’s Dad”.  He enjoyed making memories with Maddy and her friends as they traveled for sports tournaments, competitions, and other big events. They would laugh at his recurring, “Housekeeping!” joke as he knocked on the door during gatherings throughout the years. William was very proud of Maddy’s athletic and academic accomplishments, her choice to pursue a career in nursing, and the incredible friendships she has built and maintained throughout her lifetime.

William was a Sooner sports fan, an avid runner, and a music lover.  He enjoyed playing the drums throughout high school and was an enthusiastic concert goer growing up. William enjoyed spending time at the family farm fishing and riding three wheelers. He also enjoyed spending summers with family at Grand Lake.

William will be remembered for his ready smile and the lock of dark hair that frequently graced his forehead (despite his best efforts to push it away). He possessed a wry wit, a curious mind, and penchant for quickly-delivered candor.

The family and friends of William Cook are comforted by the knowledge we will someday share eternity with him, where he will be pain free, vibrant with joy and understanding, and at peace having possessed the answers he sought in this life. It will finally be our turn to knock on the door and deliver his go-to quip: “Housekeeping!”.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donating to The Rheumatology Research Foundation in Williams honor. Information can be found at https://www.rheumresearch.org
