William E. 'Bill' Kay

William E. (Bill) Kay was born May 5, 1923 in Pernell, OK to Ira G. and Iva Vandiver Kay. He died January 4, 2015 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was founder and President of Kaywood Industries in Oklahoma City until his retirement. He is survived by a brother Hubert Kay and a sister Fern Mitchell of Oklahoma City, OK; his daughter Carolyn Parker (Horace) of Ninnekah, OK; step-daughter Becky (Bill) Bowles of Tulsa, OK; step-son Kirk (Annie) Brawley of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter-in-law Barbara Kay of Gaylord, MI; granddaughters Brandi (Michael) Davis of Nashville, TN and Laura Maxwell along with six great-grandchildren Ashley, Taylor, Donnie, Amber, Victoria, and Christopher Maxwell all of Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Brawley Kay; his wife Evelyn Moore Kay and their son William E. Kay, Jr.; sisters Mabel Pettyjohn, Ruby Chapman, and Winifred Lynch; and brothers Curtis and Charlie Kay. He served in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater in World War II. He enjoyed golf and traveling around the country. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family. He was a hero to them, a man of honesty and integrity. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Special thanks to the caregivers and staff of Quail Ridge Assisted Living, Oklahoma Hospice Care, and Hometown Home Health for their compassionate care. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Smith & Kernke 23rd Street Chapel with burial following at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
