Dr. William Harvey Hall, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born October 18th, 1935 in New York, NY. Bill Hall received his B.A. cum laude from the University of Virginia in 1956, and earned his M.D. from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1960. He served as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1963, and his service included work on a vessel participating in the blockade of Cuba during the missile crisis.Following residency at Baltimore City Hospital and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, he returned to Baltimore City Hospital as Chief Resident in Medicine in 1967 prior to moving with his family to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1968, where he was Asst. Professor of Medicine at the University of Arkansas Medical Center, and Chief, Gastroenterology Section of the Little Rock Veterans Administration Hospital.In 1972, the Hall family moved to Oklahoma City, where he was an Associate Professor of Medicine, and later Professor Emeritus at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.In 1977 he opened up his clinical practice of gastroenterology with his office at the Mercy Hospital Doctor's Tower, very soon after it opened at its current location on Memorial Road. He maintained his practice there until his retirement in 2004. He served as a Delegate to the American Medical Association from Oklahoma for 6 years (1997-2003), prior to which he served as Oklahoma Governor for the American College of Gastroenterology, and received a National Senior Governor Award in 1998. He served in many other professional associations and societies during the course of his career.Bill & his family were members of All Souls' Episcopal Church, where he sang in the choir. He was a classical music enthusiast, and his hobbies included regular wine tastings with a group of friends, playing bridge, and studying financial markets every day. He was a lifelong student at heart, reading extensively, and spent considerable time compiling data on various subjects which interested him, preferring to draw his conclusions only after spending hours obtaining and carefully analyzing data.Bill was a loving husband and father, leading by example, and instilling in his children a deep appreciation for individual responsibility. He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. Harvey Hall (1904-2003) and Mary Allen Hall (1907-2009), and is survived by his wife, Minna Wilson Hall, and his children, Michael Wilson Hall and his wife Valerie, Scott Praeger Hall and his wife Denisa, and Sarah Hall Shakespeare and her husband Justin. He is survived as well by eight grandchildren (Emily & Jacob Hall, Kent, Samantha & Evan Hall, and Colin, Griffin & Libby Shakespeare). Dr. Hall is survived by two siblings, Dr. John Howland Hall of North Carolina, and Mrs. Suzanne Hall Mindlin, of California.
