William Joseph Marion III

William Joseph Marion III

William Joseph Marion III passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was 83. He was born August 31, 1941 in Peekskill, New York, the son of William and Marie Patroni Marion. Bill grew up in Mamaroneck, New York.

 He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School and then earned his Bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College and a Master's degree in Social Work from University of Oklahoma. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. Bill married Judith Linehan on Sept. 10, 1966 in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Norman and then OKC prior to moving to Edmond. He worked at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and retired after 40 years of service. He enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with family and friends. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy, and in-laws, Dick, Doris, Margie and Pat Linehan. He is survived by his two daughters, Christina Marion and Stephanie Cottam; son-in-law, Bill Cottam; his only granddaughter, Lauren Cottam; sister-in-law, Gloria Linehan; cousins Ann Albert and Jackie Musler and their families; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins as well as many dear friends. 

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 13th beginning at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Chapel, 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City. Interment will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.

 Contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Mental Health Association Oklahoma, American Heart Association or National Kidney Foundation.
