Wilma Jean Birdwell was born on December 22, 1929 in Snomac, OK to Harry and Ruby Walter. She was raised in Snomac, Oklahoma and later moved as the family followed the developing oil and gas fields. She graduated from Cashion High School and attended Central State College in Edmond, OK for one year. She then moved to Hobbs, NM and worked as a secretary for an independent oil company. Later she moved to Midland, TX where she met her future husband, Lyndon "Lynn" Birdwell. On May 4, 1952, Lynn and Wilma were married in Lubbock, TX and they started their family. Wilma's life focused on raising her children, Vicki and Dale, being a devoted Christian, volunteering for many organizations and being an avid playing bridge with her many friends. She is survived by her son Dale and daughter-in-law Wanda of Edmond, OK; her sister Rita of Odessa, TX; Wanda and husband Ralph of Norman, OK; Leona and her husband C.A. of Odessa, TX; Jo Ann of El Paso, TX and Gynith of Odessa, TX. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. Wilma will be greatly missed by her family, many relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10 am at Smith & Kernke's North May Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Urban Missions, 3737 N.
