Zane Grey Turley passed from this life on July 20, 2015, at his home in Roswell, Georgia. He was preceded in death by the love of this life, his wife Alpha Lorene Tucker Turley. Zane was born near Mineral Springs, Arkansas on October 15, 1922, but came to Oklahoma at the age of three with his parents, Jesse and Effie Turley, and six brothers and sisters, Agnes, John Hill, Travis, Mary, Edgar, and Lorida. While attending Chickasha High School he met Lorene and they were married in March of 1942. Later that year he was inducted into the U. S. Army and served with the 471st Medical Ambulance Company. He followed Patton's army across Europe and served with the occupying forces in Germany after the war. Zane attended Oklahoma A&M on the GI Bill, earned a degree in chemistry, and secured a job with the United States Gypsum Company, where he rose steadily through the ranks to become a plant manager at several locations and district director based in Atlanta. His hobbies included hunting, photography, woodworking, golf, and travel. Zane is survived by one sister, Ida B Blackburn of OKC and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9am-6pm Friday, July 24 at Smith & Kernke N. May. Services will be held at Resurrection Chapel in OKC on Saturday, July 25, at 10:00 am.
